So, to get started with digital scrapbooking in Photoshop Elements, there are two important set up things that need to be done. These steps are screen-shot in PSE11, on a Mac, but should work from PSE10 and later.
First, you need to have PSE set in Expert Mode. There are 3 modes in PSE, Quick, Guided and Expert – Quick and Guided are for very basic tasks and, quite frankly, should be ignored, expert is where you have control. Can work in layers and can create a layout. These are found along the top of the screen.
Next, you need to open the menus that will be needed. Layers and Effects are the two that you’ll likely need to use. Layers shows the layers and Effects is where you’ll load your styles and actions. It should be accessible under the “more” menu in the lower right. You’ll want to set it to Custom Workspace, and this should load these menus, if not, after setting to Custom Workspace, select Layers and Effects.
And that’s it, your Photoshop Elements is now set up to create stunning pages! Happy Scrapping!
